I plan to give new definition to the term 'late bloomer'. At age 62, it seems I am a single mom helping my incredible daughter through college, a legal secretary working hard every day, and an artist at night pouring my soul into my work. I love to draw, it is my passion, my joy. Also, it beats the heck out of moaning around in the 'empty nest syndrome'!
My work is about women. I created a number of opulent archetypes, ideas of women and characters that inspired me or appeared as visions (like my Water Goddess).
In the past few years, I have been addressing my feelings about being a single working mother. My subjects live in a circus, on the high wire, are acrobats and they are all gorgeous, strong, determined and sometimes very angry. This has been the most fulfilling work I've done.
In 2009 I was accepted as a member of Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition. I have participated in a number of shows, had a great time, and three of my drawings have miraculously sold!
Two pieces were accepted for entry at Art Scene Today, in a contest 'Women and Children First' judged by the well known and great artist, Ana Albertino Delgado. To my astonishment, I won that competition!
I was accepted for entry in the February Contest and Exhibiit of MOCA, in Brooklyn.
I was trained in photography and practiced photography for several years before marriage and motherhood and divorce ended that. I am not othewise trained as an artist. I have been drawing digitally on computer for 10 years. My work originates entirely in Adobe PhotoShop with some few other plug in filters.
